To integrate AI visibility data via enterprise GEO API feeds, treat it as four evidence classes that answer different questions: sampled answers from a vendor's prompt-run API, platform-reported citations and impressions from Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, crawler access from your server logs, and referral and outcome records from analytics and the CRM. Join them on canonical URL, topic, week, entity and market; never add them together.
Integrating AI Visibility Data: The Short Answer
- No single API covers all four classes. The vendor APIs that rank for this phrase (DataForSEO, LLM Pulse, SE Ranking, Prominence AI and Finseo among them) return prompt-level samples: mentions, cited URLs, positions and share-of-voice figures from prompts the vendor or you choose to run. Google and Microsoft report what happened on their own surfaces, and only for your site. Server logs show whether OpenAI's search crawler is actually fetching your pages. Analytics and the CRM show whether anyone arrived and what they did next.
- The first-party AI data is mostly an export, not an API. Google's generative AI performance report in Search Console (rolled out to all sites on August 31, 2026) shows impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode by page, country, device and date, with an export button; the Search Analytics API reference, last updated August 11, 2026, lists no generative-AI search type. Bing's AI Performance report documents CSV and Excel exports and does not describe API access. Plan a scheduled export step, not only API calls.
- "GEO" means two things in this market. It stands for generative engine optimization, and it is also the location parameter on almost every request: DataForSEO's examples send
location_code2840, SE Ranking queries "per engine and market". An enterprise integration should fix both meanings in writing: which AI engines, and which countries and languages. - The revenue join runs through pages and topics, not through prompts. OpenAI's publisher FAQ states that ChatGPT "automatically includes the UTM parameter utm_source=chatgpt.com in referral URLs", and GA4's Data API exposes that value as
sessionManualSource. That gives a measurable path from a cited page to a session, a key event and, through the CRM, an opportunity. A prompt-level visibility score has no field that joins to a CRM record.
The Four Evidence Classes: the decision framework
Each class has a different owner, a different access route and a different claim it can support. The table is the framework this guide uses; the class names are this page's own.
| Evidence class | What it observes | Access route | Grain and refresh, as documented | What it can support | What it cannot support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Sampled answers | The text, brands and cited URLs in answers to prompts that a vendor runs, or that you ask it to run | Vendor REST API (bearer-token keys, rate limits) | Per run; Prominence AI reports weekly snapshots, SE Ranking refreshes research data monthly and tracked prompts daily | Whether your brand or URL appeared for a defined prompt, engine and market, and who appeared instead | What a given user saw in the consumer product, or how often anyone asked the prompt |
| 2. Platform-reported | Impressions (Google) or citations and grounding queries (Bing) on the platform's own AI surfaces, for your site only | Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools reports with export | Google: days, weeks or months, dates in Pacific Time; Bing: refreshed daily, sampled | That your URLs were shown or cited on that platform, by page and over time | Competitors' visibility, unlinked brand mentions, or the prompts users typed |
| 3. Crawler access | Requests from AI search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot to your URLs | Your server or CDN logs, checked against published IP ranges | Every request, as logged | That a crawler could fetch a page, and when it last did | That the page was used or cited in an answer |
| 4. Referral and outcome | Sessions arriving from AI products, the key events in those sessions, and later CRM records | GA4 Data API, CRM API | Per session and per record | That a person arrived from an AI surface, landed on a specific page and took a recorded action | Why an engine chose to cite the page |
Decision criteria before you buy or build
The criteria below come from the documentation read for this guide. They decide whether an AI visibility feed can be joined to the rest of the stack.
- Can the record behind the number be retrieved? A share-of-voice figure is only auditable if the API also returns the prompt, engine, market, run date and the answer text or cited URLs. LLM Pulse lists "prompt execution results" in its API data; SE Ranking's tracking endpoints return "full answer text, cited sources, and detected brands for any tracked prompt". Percepture's guide to choosing an AI search monitoring platform puts the same test first in its buyer scorecard: whether the team can "preserve the exact answer and observation context".
- Are linked and unlinked mentions separate fields? SE Ranking reports citations that carry a link and name-only mentions "separately because they mean different things". Only a linked citation can be joined to a URL, and only a URL can be joined to Search Console, Bing, logs and analytics.
- What model and surface produced the answer? DataForSEO's LLM Responses example sends
"model_name": "gpt-4o"with"web_search": true. That is an API model with search enabled, which is a defensible test but not the consumer ChatGPT interface. Record the model or surface on every row so later comparisons stay like for like. - What is the refresh cadence and the time zone? Prominence AI states that its data "is collected and updated on a weekly basis" and that the API "does not provide real-time or live data". Search Console dates are Pacific Time. Joining a weekly vendor snapshot to daily first-party data at day grain produces false movement; join at week or month.
- Does the export carry stable join keys? Finseo describes its bulk export as "Joinable on project, prompt and date". Ask whether cited URLs are returned as served (with parameters) or normalised, and whether prompt IDs survive edits to the prompt wording.
- How is access priced and limited? DataForSEO is pay-as-you-go with "no subscription required"; SE Ranking says API access "is included in every SE Ranking plan" and sells API credits from $50 per 250,000; LLM Pulse puts API access on its Scale and Enterprise plans with a default of 300 requests per minute per key; Finseo returns a 429 when a plan's rate limit is hit. Size the prompt set against those limits before committing to a daily cadence.
- Which numbers are modelled? SE Ranking's overview endpoint includes "AI traffic estimates". Any traffic figure from a sampling vendor is an estimate; the measured figure for your own site is the GA4 session count in class 4.
The Join Key Contract
The contract is a short document the SEO, analytics and RevOps owners sign before the first pipeline runs. It fixes six keys, because no source shares all of them.
| Key | Definition to agree | Where each class supplies it | Common break |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canonical URL | Lower-case host, https, trailing-slash rule, query string removed | Class 1: cited URL; class 2: Google assigns most data to the canonical URL, Bing lists cited pages; class 3: request path; class 4: landingPagePlusQueryString |
utm_source=chatgpt.com and other parameters left on the URL split one page into several rows |
| Topic | A table you own that maps each prompt, grounding query and page to one topic | Class 1: your prompt list; class 2: Bing grounding queries (Google's AI report has no query dimension); classes 3 and 4: through the page | Bing grounding queries are grouped phrases, "not full user questions or prompts", so they map to topics, not to prompts |
| Period | ISO week or calendar month, in one stated time zone | Class 1: run date; class 2: report dates (Google in Pacific Time); classes 3 and 4: timestamps | Mixing weekly snapshots with daily rows |
| Entity | Your brand, your domains and each named competitor | Class 1 only; classes 2 to 4 describe your own site | Treating "not cited" in first-party data as "competitor cited" |
| Engine or surface | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, AI Overviews, AI Mode | Class 1 per row; class 2 per platform; class 4 by source value | Comparing an API model's answers with a consumer surface's impressions |
| Market | Country and language | Class 1: location parameter; class 2: Google's country dimension; class 4: GA4 country | A US-only prompt set compared with worldwide first-party totals |
Evidence table: what each source documents, read October 11, 2026
The first table summarises the primary documentation from Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and the vendors whose API pages rank for this phrase. "Not described" means the page read is silent on the point, not that the capability is absent.
| Source (date shown) | Evidence class | What it reports | Access | Documented limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Search Console, generative AI performance report (launched June 3, 2026; all sites from August 31, 2026) | 2 | Impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode; pages, countries, devices, dates | Report with export button; values shown as "~" or "-" export as zeros | Impressions only on the pages read; no query dimension; the usual 1,000-row limit applies; Search Labs experiments excluded; the data comes from the Web search type of the Performance report |
Google Search Console API, searchanalytics.query (reference updated August 11, 2026) |
2 | Clicks, impressions, CTR and position for search types web, image, video, news, googleNews, discover |
API | No generative-AI type or filter listed; AI Overview and AI Mode traffic is counted inside web |
| Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance (Intents, Topics, Citation Share and Compare added in preview June 2, 2026) | 2 | Total citations, cited pages, average cited pages, grounding queries, query-to-page mapping, citation share per grounding query | Dashboard; CSV and Excel export | "Represents a sample of overall citation activity"; refreshed daily; covers Copilot, AI summaries in Bing and "select partner AI integrations"; API access not described |
| OpenAI, Overview of OpenAI Crawlers | 3 | OAI-SearchBot surfaces sites in ChatGPT search; GPTBot is for training; ChatGPT-User acts on user requests | robots.txt rules; published IP lists | Opted-out sites "will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers"; robots.txt changes can take about 24 hours; ChatGPT-User "is not used to determine whether content may appear in Search" |
| OpenAI, Publishers and Developers FAQ | 4 | ChatGPT adds utm_source=chatgpt.com to referral URLs |
Your analytics | Read through the search index; the page refused direct fetches on the research date |
| Google Analytics Data API schema (updated October 9, 2026) | 4 | sessionManualSource ("Populated by utm_source URL parameter"), sessionSource, landingPagePlusQueryString, pageReferrer, key events |
API | The default channel group description lists Direct, Organic Search, Referral and other channels but names no AI channel, so build the filter yourself |
| DataForSEO, GEO and AI search visibility data | 1 | LLM Mentions, AI Keyword Data, LLM Responses, AI Mode and AI Overview SERPs | Pay-as-you-go API | Answers come from API models and its prompt database; prompt database size is the vendor's own figure |
| LLM Pulse, API Access | 1 | Mentions, citation URLs and positions, sentiment, visibility metrics, competitors, prompt execution results | REST API, CLI and SDKs on Scale and Enterprise plans | Default 300 requests per minute per key |
| SE Ranking, AI Visibility API | 1 | Brand and link presence, average position, linked versus unlinked mentions, prompts with full answers, share-of-voice against up to 10 competitors, AI traffic estimates | API credits; included in every plan | Research data refreshed monthly; tracked prompts daily; traffic figures are estimates |
| Prominence AI, API | 1 | Share of Answer, average position, share of mentions, citations, grounding sources, YouTube data | REST API | Weekly snapshots, generally available by Monday; no real-time data |
| Finseo, REST API | 1 | Projects, prompts, metrics, competitors, sources, tags, fan-outs, attribution, bulk export | REST API with read, write and export scopes | Rate limits by plan; bulk export joinable on project, prompt and date |
Three readings from the table.
- Google and Microsoft now report AI visibility first-party, but neither documents an API for it. Both reports are built for a person reading a dashboard and downloading a file. An enterprise pipeline that only calls APIs will silently skip the two sources that describe real impressions and real citations.
- The two first-party reports measure different things. Google counts impressions, "how many times links to your site were shown". Bing counts citations, how often content "was visibly referenced or shown as a source". Neither counts clicks on the pages read; the clicks arrive in class 4.
- Only vendor samples see competitors and unlinked mentions. That is the reason to buy one. It is also the reason not to report vendor share-of-voice as if it were measured traffic.
What the pages ranking for this phrase answer and miss
The second table records the logged-out US Google results for the exact phrase on October 11, 2026. An AI Overview appeared above the results. It recommended the Finseo REST API, the DataForSEO GEO API and Keyword.com's AI Visibility Tracker API, listed tracked engines, metrics and bearer-token authentication, and showed one source chip, "DataForSEO +3".
| # | Page | What it answers | What it misses | What it proves or cites |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI Overview | Google AI Overview | Which APIs to call, which engines and metrics they cover, how authentication works | First-party reports, crawler access, referral tracking, any join to revenue | Cites DataForSEO and three hidden sources |
| 1 | ScrapeGraphAI, Best API for AI Visibility 2026 | A ranked list of five APIs with pricing and use cases | First-party data and joins; method behind the ranking | No sources cited; states Profound has "No public pricing" and then lists a $99 Starter plan |
| 2 | DataForSEO, GEO and AI search visibility data | Endpoint families, request examples, pay-as-you-go pricing | How sampled answers relate to consumer products; first-party data | Its own prompt database and a study of 100,000 ChatGPT prompts from that database |
| 3 | LLM Pulse, API Access | Data available, authentication, rate limits, warehouse and BI use | First-party reports; how runs are sampled | Customer logos and one named testimonial |
| 4 | SE Ranking, AI Visibility API | Linked versus unlinked mentions, research versus tracking cadence, MCP access | How its AI traffic estimates are calculated (not described on the page) | Its own dataset sizes |
| 5 | Prominence AI, API | Four data pillars, weekly cadence, example requests | First-party reports | A sample marked "Illustrative data" |
None of the five pages or the AI Overview mentions Bing Webmaster Tools, OAI-SearchBot, the utm_source=chatgpt.com parameter or Search Console's generative AI performance report. SE Ranking and LLM Pulse mention blending with Search Console or GA4 dashboards. The ZoomInfo article on enterprise APIs, which keyword-research exports list as competing for this phrase, covers the governance side well, and its four strategy questions (what data, where it goes, who maintains it, how success is measured) apply here, but it does not discuss AI visibility data.
How to integrate AI visibility data via enterprise GEO API feeds, step by step
The order below follows the classes from cheapest to verify to most expensive to buy. Nothing in it requires a particular vendor.
- Confirm class 3 first: can AI search crawlers reach the pages? Check robots.txt for OAI-SearchBot, then search the server or CDN logs for its user agent and match the source addresses against OpenAI's published
searchbot.jsonlist. A robots.txt that allows the bot does not prove that a firewall or bot-management rule lets it through; the log does. For Google, the documented requirement is that a page is "indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet", with "no additional technical requirements". - Write the topic table. List the topics the business sells into, map each to one owning page, and attach to each topic the prompts you will run and, later, the Bing grounding queries that fall under it. This table is the only place prompts, queries and pages meet.
- Schedule the first-party exports. Download Search Console's generative AI report by page and by date, and Bing's AI Performance pages and grounding queries, on a fixed day each month or week, and load them into the warehouse with the export date. Keep the overall Web performance data from the Search Console API alongside, because the AI impressions are also inside it.
- Add one sampling vendor. Run the topic table's prompts through a vendor API at the cadence its data actually refreshes, store every row with prompt ID, engine or model, market, run date, cited URLs (linked) and brands (linked and unlinked), and keep the answer text where the licence allows.
- Normalise URLs on load. Apply the Join Key Contract's canonical rule to every URL from every class: strip query strings including
utm_source=chatgpt.com, apply the trailing-slash rule, and resolve redirects to the final URL. - Pull class 4. Query the GA4 Data API for sessions where
sessionManualSourceorsessionSourcecontainschatgpt.com(and the source values of other AI products you see in your own data), by landing page, week and key event. In the CRM, record the landing page on the form or first-touch field so opportunities can be traced back to a page. - Build the Page Action Queue. Each period, join the classes by page, topic, period and market, and route every page to one action.
The Page Action Queue
| Pattern across the classes | Likely reading | Action | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| No crawler hits (3), no citations or impressions (2) | The page may not be reachable or indexable | Fix access before any content work | Engineering or SEO |
| Crawled (3), sampled answers cite competitors for the topic (1), your page not cited (1, 2) | The page is reachable but not chosen | Review the page's direct answer, evidence and sources against the cited competitors; earn third-party coverage where the cited sources are publications | Content and digital PR |
| Cited or shown (2), few referral sessions (4) | Visibility without visits | Check that the cited claim and the landing page match; improve the next step on the page | Content and web |
| Referral sessions with key events (4) | The topic produces demand | Hand the topic and the accounts behind the key events to sales; add the topic to account research | RevOps and sales |
| Unlinked brand mentions only (1) | The brand is named without a source page | Publish or strengthen a page that substantiates what the answers say about you | Content |
Percepture's monitoring guide reaches a similar structure with its own model, the Six-State Visibility Ladder, which runs from "Absent from the observed answer" to "Connected to recorded referral or conversion evidence", and describes such models as "editorial models, not search-engine ranking factors". The same caution applies to the Page Action Queue: it routes work, it does not predict citations.
A worked example
The company, pages and every number in this example are invented for this guide. They show how the classes combine in one monthly review.
A B2B data-security software company maps 6 topics to 6 owning pages and runs 30 prompts (5 per topic) weekly through one vendor API, in US English, across three engines. In the first month:
- Topic "data residency for SaaS". The vendor samples show competitors cited in 41 of the topic's 60 runs (5 prompts, 3 engines, 4 weeks) and the company's page cited in none. Bing shows 14 citations for the page, and Search Console's AI report shows impressions. Server logs show no OAI-SearchBot requests to the page in 30 days, although robots.txt allows the bot; a bot-management rule at the CDN is blocking it. Action: engineering allows the published OpenAI IP ranges. The page enters the content review only after the next month's logs show fetches.
- Topic "SOC 2 evidence collection". GA4 shows 38 sessions with
sessionManualSourcechatgpt.comlanding on the topic's page, 3 of them with a demo-request key event, from 3 companies. The CRM shows 2 of the 3 already in an open opportunity. Action: the third company goes to the account owner, and sales adds the topic to its research on similar accounts. - The other four topics show sampled visibility but no referral sessions. They stay in content review; no sales action is taken on sampled visibility alone.
The review produced one access fix, one sales handoff and four content reviews. It did not produce a visibility score, because the classes measure different things and their numbers are never added together.
Where This Guide Stops
This guide reads documentation and ranking pages; it measures no company's AI visibility and makes no claim about results from any vendor or service. Vendor capabilities, prices and limits are as their pages stated on October 11, 2026, and the "Not described" readings cover only the pages read; API reference documentation behind logins was not reviewed. Google's and Microsoft's AI reports are new: Google's reached all sites on August 31, 2026, and Bing's Intents, Topics, Citation Share and Compare are in preview, so fields and export options may change. Whether Google or Microsoft will add API access is unknown; this page states only what their documentation said on the research date. The OpenAI publisher FAQ was read through its search-index text because the page blocked direct fetches. The utm_source=chatgpt.com parameter identifies ChatGPT referrals that keep the parameter; it does not capture visits where a person copies a URL or returns later, so ChatGPT referral sessions are a floor, not a total. Sampled answers depend on the prompt wording, model, location and date of each run, and an API model with search enabled is not the consumer product. The worked example is invented.
Where Lead Seeker fits
The integration ends at a list of pages and topics that produce demand. Lead Seeker works on the step after that. Lead Compass "uses your company website, ICP, and intent themes to surface opportunity picks, cite public sources where available, and generate ready-to-run search prompts", so a topic that the Page Action Queue marks as producing demand can become an intent theme. Running a search returns verified people in the roles you describe at the accounts you choose, with the public signal that surfaced each one, and Lead Seeker's about page lists spreadsheet, PDF and Word exports plus native Salesforce and HubSpot sync. It does not measure AI visibility.
For the visibility side, Percepture's GEO services page lists tracking and reporting of "mentions, sentiment, and referral traffic from AI platforms" using "tools like SEMrush and Google Search Console", and its AI search package is listed from $3,500 a month on its pricing page; its organic SEO services guide covers the classic-search work that the AI features still depend on. Prime AI Visibility, a related company, checks buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, saves the answers and sources, and compares repeat checks; for an unaffiliated sampling source, the vendor APIs in the evidence table are alternatives. Pyra, which describes itself as "an AI agent platform that builds and runs agents for real job workflows", lists marketing and operations agents among them; teams that want recurring steps such as the scheduled exports handed to an agent can scope that with Pyra.
For neighbouring decisions, the guide to the best AI visibility tools for B2B sales teams compares monitoring products by fit, the shortlist of the best generative engine optimization agencies for B2B lead generation covers outsourced programmes, and the review of the best digital PR agencies for B2B lead generation 2026 covers the third-party coverage that the Page Action Queue sends to digital PR.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Google Search Console have an API for AI Overviews and AI Mode data?
Not on the documentation read on October 11, 2026. Search Console's generative AI performance report shows impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode by page, country, device and date and has an export button. The Search Analytics API reference, last updated August 11, 2026, lists no generative-AI search type or filter; AI feature traffic is counted inside the web type with everything else.
Does Bing Webmaster Tools report Copilot citations?
Yes. Bing's AI Performance report shows total citations, cited pages and grounding queries across Microsoft Copilot, AI-generated summaries in Bing and select partner AI integrations, refreshed daily. Microsoft describes the data as a sample of citation activity rather than a complete log. Exports are available in CSV and Excel; the help page does not describe API access.
How do I track ChatGPT referral traffic in GA4?
OpenAI states that ChatGPT adds utm_source=chatgpt.com to referral URLs. In GA4 that value appears in sessionManualSource, which the Data API describes as populated by the utm_source parameter. Filter sessions on that source, break them down by landing page and key event, and allow OAI-SearchBot in robots.txt, since OpenAI ties appearing in ChatGPT search to that crawler.
What is the difference between GEO and geo-targeting in an AI visibility API?
GEO usually means generative engine optimization: improving how a brand appears in AI-generated answers. Geo-targeting is the location setting on each request, such as DataForSEO's location_code or SE Ranking's market filter, which changes which answers come back. An enterprise brief should specify both: the AI engines to track and the countries and languages to run them in.
Which AI visibility platforms have a public API?
Among the pages read for this guide, DataForSEO, LLM Pulse, SE Ranking, Prominence AI and Finseo document public REST APIs for AI visibility data, and the AI Overview for this phrase also named Keyword.com. Access terms differ: DataForSEO is pay-as-you-go, SE Ranking includes API access in every plan, and LLM Pulse limits it to Scale and Enterprise plans.
How do you connect AI citations to revenue?
Through pages. A citation names a URL; a ChatGPT referral lands on a URL with utm_source=chatgpt.com; analytics records the key event on that visit; and the CRM records the landing page on the lead or opportunity. Join those records on canonical URL and period. Prompt-level visibility scores have no field that joins to a CRM record, so they guide content work rather than revenue reporting.
